Forgotten Silver

Forgotten Silver is a 1995 New Zealand mockumentary film that tells the story of a pioneering New Zealand filmmaker. It was directed by Peter Jackson and Costa Botes who both appear in film in their roles as makes of the documentary. The films follows the story of filmmaker Colin Mckenzie, and the rediscovery of his lost films, which presenter Peter Jackson thought he had lost in an old shed. Mckenzie is shown to be the first and greatest innovator of modern cinema, single-handedly inventing the tracking shot and both sound and colour film years before they were supposedly made.

This is a trailer for the film so you can see the style of it. I also have a link for a scene and an interview with Costa Botes.

One thing I will look to use in my FMP from this film is the use of the tracking shot. This would really help me in my cutaway scenes for example if someone was walking in late to class I could have a tracking shot of them walking to the classroom.

The casting is similar to how I’m going to do it. Some of the cast play themselves.

The cast as themselves:

All these people appear as themselves and in my film, I’m going to have myself, Charlie and Troy appear as ourselves.
