When it was actually time to film I decided to change how I was going to film. I originally intended to use 3 cameras, one on me, on the interviewee and one wide shot on the both of us. I also planned to have one main light on us which would light the whole set up. I decided to also use a zoom microphone.
After my test shots I decided to only use two cameras. I watched more Teammates 2.0 interviews and I noticed that quite a lot of them had only 2 cameras, just one for the main shot and one on the interviewee. When the interviewer was talking the camera would cut to the wide shot.
I originally wanted to have one light which would light up the whole set but quickly found that the lights I used were too direct. This resulted in our faces being far too over exposed. To solve this, I used two lights as one was not capable of lighting up the set by itself.
I chose the photography room in the first place because it looks like a film set. I have seen in various interviews, not just Teammates 2.0, that some interviews have the set visible in the background. You can see things such as backdrops, tripods, and sometimes even people ons set walking around. You can also heat things happening in the background.
I decided to have the white background for my scene as I researched that you need to make sure your background isn’t distracting to viewers so I used a simple background. The only issue with the white background is there are shadows visible, but I was able to position the lights to aim the shadows away from the backdrop.
