One of my options to film in was the woods. I did like this location as it is interesting the the viewer. There were many reasons why I could have filmed here but I ultimately decided not to.
On one hand the woods was conveniently close by, only down the road from college. This meant that travel wouldn’t be an issue. Also the woods never have other people there so I would have flexibility in what time I could film. Also the woods is a wide open space meaning I could move the camera around easily and get some really nice shots.
On the other hand, the woods is off site meaning I would have to get permission from the college to take their equipment off site. This could be risky as if the equipment got damaged in any way, I would be responsible for it. Also the weather would have an effect on my film as the sound of the leaves moving if it is windy could mean poor quality audio. The woods is located next to a road as well, so the cars driving past could get picked up in the sound as well.
Also, the key to making your video look nice is good lighting. Even when the weather is sunny the surrounding trees and leaves could shade all the lighting.
I have previously filmed in a location with woods in Oxted with Charlie. And the shots we originally intended to have had to be changed as the trees and the leaves were not ideal sound wise and lighting wise.
